How it works on the ground
The guest is almost always Mexican. Per AirROI, 93% of Tampico reviewers live in Mexico, 83% of listings are entire homes and the median cleaning fee is 245 pesos. July brings the most revenue, August the highest occupancy, and February and January are the slowest.

At Holy Week the beach takes over. Playa Miramar, in Ciudad Madero, drew 933,876 visitors in 2026, according to the state government, and Madero's hotels filled up. If you have condos near the beach, that week a lot of checkouts land together.
Water gets cut for works. On April 8, 2026, days after Holy Week, the regional water utility, Comapa Sur, shut off service in 26 neighborhoods, 11 in Madero, 5 in Tampico and 10 in Altamira, to fix leaks and main lines, and brought it back over the afternoon (Milenio).
