Vacation rentals in Acapulco, Mexico, nearly three years after Hurricane Otis
If you manage vacation rentals in Acapulco, you're working in a port that's still rebuilding from Hurricane Otis, which came ashore as a Category 5 on October 25, 2023. In January 2026 there were 19,300 hotel rooms open, down from 21,888 in January 2023, and Guerrero's tourism department put the condo buildings at only a little past halfway back. Upbridge's AI operations assistant, Cleo, works over WhatsApp with vacation rental operators and cleaning companies and organizes the cleanings and the inventory for each place.
The rules here
We checked this table on September 25, 2026, and almost everything that applies in Acapulco is set by the state.

What Airbnb and the other platforms hold back for income tax and VAT works the same way in Acapulco as anywhere else in the country, so it lives in the SAT section of our Mexico page.
This is not legal or tax advice, and Upbridge does not file anything for you: no registrations and no tax returns.
How it works on the ground
In April 2026, Guerrero's tourism secretary, Simón Quiñones, told El Universal that condo buildings were a bit over 50% recovered, with 70% expected by the end of the year. So a unit that's back on the market can share a floor with one that's still a job site, and the first turnover after a repair deserves a room-by-room walkthrough, the way you'd check a brand-new place.
Demand comes in spikes. Hotel occupancy was 56% in January 2026, close to the 58% the port averaged before Otis, and Infobae reported it above 70% over Easter week. For whoever cleans, that makes the holiday week the heaviest one, when checkouts and check-ins land in the same few hours.
AirROI counted 3,673 active Airbnb listings between August 2025 and July 2026, 42.6% more than a year earlier, with stays averaging about 4.2 nights. December was the strongest month and October the weakest, which makes October the natural time for maintenance and the deep cleans that don't fit between two bookings.
Even the recovery numbers disagree. The state talked about 86% of hotel capacity in April, while on September 24, 2026 Miguel Ángel Fong of the Mexican Hotel and Motel Association put it at 70% to 80%. What's open near your building can change from one month to the next, and your guests need to know before they arrive.
Where Upbridge fits
For the unit coming back after repairs, we have photo cleaning checklists. The cleaner goes room by room on their phone, ticks off the required items, adds photos and comments, and you get a timestamped report at the end.
For the Easter and December peaks, we connect Guesty, Hostaway, Lodgify or Uplisting, or import the platform's iCal, and every checkout creates its own cleaning task.
And since what's open in town keeps shifting, we build the guest guide for you, and after that you can keep it current yourself. Guests open it on their phone, in English or Spanish, with directions and how to get in.
If you rent out condos in Acapulco or you're the one cleaning them, Upbridge can help make sure every checkout gets inspected and every arrival has up-to-date information.
If you run a cleaning company in Acapulco
Here the work piles up over the holidays. With occupancy past 70% at Easter, chances are several owners will want you on the same checkout morning. With the account for cleaning companies, we pull every owner's iCal or PMS into one calendar, so on that Easter morning you see every checkout together before you split up your crew. The client stays yours, and we don't take a cut of each job.
