Guerrero

What does Guerrero, Mexico, ask of people who rent homes to tourists?

If you manage vacation rentals in Guerrero, the rule you'll feel most is the lodging tax: El Contribuyente's table puts it at 4% in general and 5% when the booking comes through a digital platform. We didn't find a state law creating a host register or a cap on nights, the way Oaxaca has one. Upbridge's AI operations assistant, Cleo, works over WhatsApp with vacation rental operators and cleaning companies and organizes the cleanings and the inventory for each place.

The rules here

Here's what we found as of September 25, 2026, and what we looked for and didn't find.

Lodging tax El Contribuyente lists 4% in general and 5% for stays booked through digital platforms, paid within the first 17 days of the following month. Vezpa's table from April 2026 says 3%. The two don't agree and neither one is the text of the law, so check it with your accountant. In force Not dated in the source El Contribuyente and Vezpa
Host registration We found no Guerrero law requiring you to register homes you rent to tourists. There's a national tourism register and a state one, and in October 2025 the state tourism department handed registrations in both to Mundo Imperial's Pierre, Princess and Palacio hotels in Acapulco. That announcement only mentions hotels and restaurants. No specific law October 17, 2025 Government of Guerrero
Night or property caps We didn't find a yearly limit on nights, or on homes per host, in state law either. No specific law Checked September 25, 2026 Our own search

Even without a state rental law, the tax the SAT has the platforms withhold still applies here, and we explain it on our page for all of Mexico.

This is not legal or tax advice, and Upbridge does not file anything for you: no registrations and no tax returns.

How it works on the ground

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo's airport went from 674,660 passengers in 2024 to 733,616 in 2025, up 8.7%, according to the operator OMA's figures as listed on Wikipedia. More of your guests on that stretch of coast are flying in, which means you can plan each check-in around a flight time.

The airport's busiest international route in 2025 was Los Angeles, with 31,937 passengers, followed by Calgary and Dallas. Los Angeles and Houston fly year-round, and Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary are seasonal. So a good share of your guests will probably be reading the house instructions in English.

Because the tax rate depends on whether a booking came through a platform or directly, you'll want to know, house by house, where each stay came from.

Where Upbridge fits

For guests coming from the US and Canada, we build a guest guide for each house in English and Spanish, with how to get there from the airport and how to get in. They can open it on their phone as soon as they land.

To keep every stay in view, we connect Guesty, Hostaway, Lodgify or Uplisting, or import each house's iCal, so bookings from every platform end up in one calendar. Every checkout creates its cleaning task, with its own photo checklist.

If you manage vacation rentals or run a cleaning company in Guerrero, Upbridge can help you coordinate everything from the moment one guest lands in Zihuatanejo to the moment the next one finds the house ready.

If you run a cleaning company in Guerrero

The seasonal flights from Canada can change the pace of your week in Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo, because the months they run are when your check-ins and checkouts are most likely to pile up. With the account for cleaning companies, you see all your clients' homes in one calendar, each from its own iCal or system, and we don't take a cut of your jobs.
