Running vacation rentals in Taxco, Mexico, where stays last two nights and a third of guests live in Mexico City

Every listing in Taxco takes one- or two-night stays, and in three out of four check-in is at 3 p.m., with checkout usually at noon, according to AirROI. When a house empties and fills again on the same day, your cleaner has three hours. AirROI counts about 5,250 bookings a year across all the listings, and with stays this short nearly every booking means a full clean after two nights of use.

Long weekends set the calendar. On Saturday, February 21, 2026, Taxco's hotels were at 45.4% (La Razón). On the year's second long weekend they reached 90.4%, according to Guerrero's tourism department (SDP Noticias), and over the May 1 weekend they hit 93.9%, with a taco festival held as part of the Tianguis Turístico trade fair (La Razón). So your team can go from a quiet week to a pile of houses to clean on the same day.

AirROI puts December as the best month and February as the slowest. The National Silver Fair falls in late November. Its 88th edition ran from November 29 to December 6, 2025, with the program in Plaza Borda and the contest pieces at Casa Borda (Excélsior, October 2025). When we checked on October 22, 2026, this year's dates hadn't been published yet.

In January 2024, Taxco's public transport stopped for a full week because of violence and threats from a criminal group, and it came back on Monday, January 29, after meetings with federal, state and town authorities (UnoTV). If your team gets around by taxi or van, it helps to know ahead of time who could drive to each house if service stops again.

With two-night stays, toilet paper, soap and coffee need restocking all the time. In inventory you set up the products for each house, they're deducted after every stay, and you get an alert in the app, by email or on WhatsApp when something is running low.

In Taxco you'll do a lot of short cleanings, and they'll bunch up after every long weekend. A little over half the listings charge cleaning separately, and the typical fee is 175 pesos, according to AirROI.
